A Punjab artist painted portraits of US President-elect Joe Biden and VP-elect Kamala Harris on the eve of their inauguration. Jagjot Singh Rubal painted the portraits as a gift to the leaders on their swearing-in. The artist also expressed his wish to display his work in the White House. Rubal took 20 days to complete the portraits painted on joint canvas using acrylic colours. He had earlier received a letter of appreciation from PM Modi for his portrait. The artist from Amritsar currently holds as many as 10 world records. Biden-Harris' inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 20 at the US Capitol. The event is set to be a star-studded one with celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, others.

Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the Modi government over the three farm laws that have led to massive protests by farmers. The Congress leader alleged that the Modi government was working for the benefit of a few crony capitalists that he alleged were close to the Prime Minister. He said that the three new laws will destroy agriculture in the country and it will eventually also impact the middle class as they will end up having to pay higher prices. He also said that the agriculture sector was the last that was protected from the monopoly of the corporate and that has also now been taken over. Rahul Gandhi’s attack comes as farmers have been protesting against the three laws passed by the Centre and have demanded withdrawal of the laws. During his address in the foundation stone laying ceremony of Ahmedabad and Surat metro rail projects, PM Modi said that the best example to see the work difference between previous governments and current government is the expansion of metro rail network across country. He further said that there was a time when there was no modern thinking regarding metro network and no metro policy. "Best example to see difference between approaches of previous governments' work and work of current government is the expansion of metro rail network across country. Before 2014, only 225 kms of metro line became operational in 10-12 yrs. In last 6 yrs, over 450 kms of metro network became operational. Work is underway on over 1000 kms of metro network in 27 cities across the nation, as of now. There was a time when there was no modern thinking in nation, regarding metro network. There was no metro policy. As a result, there were different kinds of metro in different cities."
