CM face projected by party in Rajasthan never got the chair: Ashok Gehlot

IndiaTimes Friday, 20 October 2023
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of Jaipur asserted that the favored candidates for the CM's post in the Congress party have never actually become the CM. Using his own example in the 1998 assembly polls, Gehlot highlighted that being the underdog worked in his favor. He also mentioned the cases of Dr CP Joshi in 2008 and Sachin Pilot in 2018, where he emerged as the CM despite not being the initial favorite. Gehlot expressed his desire to leave the post but acknowledged that it may not happen. He called for unity within the party and criticized the BJP for targeting his predecessor Vasundhara Raje.
