Tuesday, 7 November 2023 Food and civil supplies minister Chhagan Bhujbal's opposition to the inclusion of Marathas in the OBC quota category has caused tension within the Mahayuti alliance. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena members have criticized Bhujbal's statement, emphasizing that the government's goal is to provide reservation for the Maratha community without affecting the OBCs or any other community. The Sakal Maratha Samaj in Kolhapur has demanded Bhujbal's removal from the cabinet for his "objectionable statements" about the Maratha community. Excise minister Shambhuraje Desai also denounced Bhujbal's remarks, calling them incorrect and misleading.
