1,021 revenue circles in Maharashtra see below 75% rain, declared 'drought-hit'

IndiaTimes Sunday, 12 November 2023
The state government of Maharashtra has declared "drought-like conditions" in 1,021 revenue circles due to a rainfall shortage. This declaration comes after the government had already declared drought in 40 of the state's talukas. While the affected talukas are eligible for relief under the National Disaster Relief Fund, residents in the revenue circles with drought-like conditions will receive similar concessions but not the NDRF compensation. The state government has also implemented other measures such as relief in land revenue, restructuring of crop loans, and exemption from agricultural loan payments for these areas.
