Cauvery panel directs Karnataka to release 3216 cusecs water every day to Tamil Nadu for next 38 days
Thursday, 23 November 2023 The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) recommended the Karnataka government to release 3216 cusecs of water every day to Tamil Nadu for 38 days starting November 24, 2023. The committee also stated that Karnataka needs to ensure stipulated quantities of flow as per the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) award. In response, Tamil Nadu demanded that Karnataka release 5000 cusecs of water for the next 30 days. The governments of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been locked in a protracted tussle over the sharing of Cauvery waters.
