Char Dham Yatra: No VIP darshan till May 31, orders Uttarakhand CM as devotees arrive in record numbers
Thursday, 16 May 2024 () In a big decision, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed that all VIP darshans to Char Dham Yatra be postponed till May 31. The decision comes as an unprecedented number of pilgrims visit Char Dham this year. More than one lakh devotees reached Kedarnath since it opened on May 10. So far, over 27 lakh devotees have visited Char Dham.
The Indian Air Force deployed its MI 17 V5 helicopter on Saturday (April 27) to combat the forest fires ravaging the Nainital district in Uttarakhand, as confirmed by the stateβs Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami. Utilising a "Bambi Bucket," the helicopter retrieved water from Bhimtal Lake, situated near Nainital, and discharged it onto the flames engulfing the forests.
