Becoming HC judge is tougher now: Less than 50% make it

The Supreme Court collegium, led by CJI Sanjiv Khanna, has tightened the selection process for High Court judges, resulting in a significant drop in the success rate of recommended lawyers. Previously, nearly 90% of HC collegia recommendations were approved, but now less than 50% pass muster after mandatory interviews.
