Nainital’s 162-year-old London House gutted in fire: Elderly resident killed; probe ordered

A devastating fire consumed the 162-year-old Old London House in Nainital, claiming the life of 82-year-old Shanta Bisht. The colonial-era wooden structure, a piece of Nainital's history, was destroyed despite efforts from fire personnel, the Army, and the IAF. An electrical short circuit during welding repairs is suspected to be the cause.
