Adani wins final approval to begin work on Australian coal mine project
Thursday, 13 June 2019 The final approval for Adani Group’s long-delayed billion dollar Carmichael coal mine project came weeks after a surprise election win of Australia’s pro-coal ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Scott Morrison. It is set to become the largest coal mine in Australia, with approval to produce up to 60 million tonnes of coal annually, and 2.3 billion tonnes over the life of the mine.
India's Adani Enterprises on Thursday (June 13) received the go-ahead to start construction of a controversial coal mine in outback Australia, after a state government approved a final permit on ground water management. David Pollard reports.
