Japanese officials are set to release treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean. The release is part of the plant's decommissioning process and aims to make room for more wastewater while preventing accidental leaks. The water has been treated to reduce the levels of radionuclides, except for tritium, which is considered safe in small amounts.
