California governor vetoes bill banning robotrucks without safety drivers

California Governor Gavin Newsom has vetoed a bill that would have prevented heavy-duty driverless trucks from operating in the state. The bill, which required a human driver to be present in autonomous vehicles weighing over 10,001 pounds, was passed by a majority in both houses of the state legislature. However, Newsom stated that the bill was unnecessary given the existing regulatory framework governing autonomous technology.
