Thursday, 30 November 2023 Pakistan's top election body, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), may conduct an in-prison trial of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan in a contempt case due to security concerns. The ECP held a hearing of the case against Khan and his former party leaders, Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar, for using "intemperate" language against the chief election commissioner and electoral watchdog. The interior ministry submitted a report suggesting a jail trial for Khan in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, where he is currently incarcerated. The ECP adjourned the hearing until December 6.
