Poland to get first 5 billion euros in EU funds this year

EU to transfer 5 billion euros to Poland to aid energy transition away from fossil fuels and support the restoration of the rule of law. The first transfer of funds is part of a program that is free from the usual rule of law conditions. More money will come as Poland restores an independent judiciary. Poland's new prime minister, Donald Tusk, vows to prioritize the rule of law and aims to join the EU's European Public Prosecutor's Office.
