Police Chief Reggie Pitre of Golden Meadows, Louisiana, was surveying the early effects of Tropical Storm Barry on Saturday, July 13, observing flooding along LA-1 next to Bayou Lafourche that was cutting off access to coastal towns.

Golden Meadow, approximately 50 miles south of New Orleans, lies directly in the expected path of the storm.

Further south of Golden Meadows along LA-1 are the towns of Leeville, Port Fourchon, and Grand Isle.

More than 2,600 people were without power in Grand Isle on Saturday morning, according to supplier Entergy.

The National Hurricane Center said the storm would bring “life-threatening storm surge inundation” along the Gulf Coast, long-duration heavy rainfall, flash flooding and river flooding.
