Former U.S. Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller on Wednesday disputed assertions that he had interviewed with President Donald Trump in 2017 to serve as FBI director a day before he was appointed to oversee the Russia investigation.
Mueller denies Trump claim that he sought FBI director job
Mueller told lawmakers that he not applied or interviewed for the job of FBI Director under President Trump, despite Trump's claims to the contrary.
On Monday, Trump tweeted: "Highly conflicted Robert Mueller should not be given another bite at the apple.
In the end it will be bad for him and the phony Democrats in Congress who have done nothing but waste time on this ridiculous Witch Hunt.
Result of the Mueller Report, NO COLLUSION, NO OBSTRUCTION!" Mueller told the House Judiciary Committee hearing on his report that , "My understanding of it was (I was) not applying for the job, I was asked to give my input on what it would take to do the job.
I interviewed with the president ... it was about the job, but not about me applying for the job."
