Police chief fred shelton tells me the shooting happened just a few weeks ago.
After some investigating officers say they finally caught the man.
Police arrested quinn martez wiley for shooting into someone's home.
Shelton says people were inside the home in north columbus on 14th avenue and the suspect knew them.
Quinn had an argument with one of the people inside the home.
Police say as he left the house he fired shots.
Officers booked wiley in the lowndes county jail on a 40 thousand dollar bond.
((sot)) "of course we know this violence is not the way, i situations like this just call the police and key us come and try to calm the situation down."
Chief fred shelton- columbus police department 00:22;11-00:30;21 chief shelton says he also charhed wiley with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He seized two guns from the him and says the department is continuing the effort to get guns off the streets.
"when we arrested mr. wiley we were able to take two weapons from him.
The weapon that was used in the crime as well as another weapon so that's two more weapons that's off the street."
Shelton says its normal to see arguments escalate like this, especially during this season.
"as we get closer to the holiday season, people are upset, they have concerns.
So what we're trying to do is get more proactive in the community."
The police officers are mitigating this problem with more patrols and a mobile command center.
