New housing is opening up for low income families in redding.

Action news now reporter 'ana torrea' tells us how it will work..

And what people think about the new units.

People here say more housing is a must!

On 29-hundred "polk street" you'll find the second phase for the "woodlands."

Right now 10 units are open through referral with "health and human services" while the another 10 units will be 2-to-3 bedroom apartments.

Which will house low-income families.

And the newly built complex will be right next to the other apartment buildings.

I spoke to several people who live in the woodlands apartments.

It's pretty cool, it's more housing for people, because they're low income people can get into them easier, and it helps out.//// hopefully we can get these people off the streets and get them housed here according to the shasta health and human services agency: about 140 people currently live on the property.

19 of the apartments are for clients who have severe mental health... or are at risk of being homeless.

Live in redding, ana torrea, action news now, coverage you can count on.

The woodlands is a 55-unit apartment complex.
