Prime Minister Narendra Modiinaugurated the first ever undersea optical fibre project for Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This will provide high speed broadband connections in the Union Territory at par with services in the mainland. PM Modi said that the project will give a boost to digital services like tele-education, tele-health, e-governance services and tourism on the islands. PM Modi also said that this optical fibre cable project, connecting Andaman and Nicobar with the rest of the country is a symbol of our commitment towards ease of living. PM Modi added that tourists will get huge benefits from the optical fibre facility and thousands of families in the Union Territory will be able access education, banking, shopping or tele-medicine online and said that this in turn will open up more employment opportunities for people of the region. 'The Indian Ocean has been the centre of India's trade and strategic prowess for thousands of years. Now that India is following the new policy and practice of trade and cooperation in Indo-Pacific, the importance of our islands including Andaman and Nicobar has increased further,' said PM Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10 said that major problem of mobile and internet connectivity has been resolved in Andaman and Nicobar. "High Impact Projects are being expanded in 12 islands of Andaman and Nicobar. The major problem of mobile and internet connectivity has been resolved today. Apart from this, physical connectivity through road, air and water is also being strengthened," said PM Modi during an inaugural ceremony of submarine Optical Fibre Cable in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on September 24 inaugurated the vaccination campaign under the National Animal Disease Control Program for the prevention and elimination of animal hoof-flattened (FMD) and brucellosis diseases. CM Soren provided tabs, iceboxes, medicines and tags to five vaccine personnel as a token. State Agriculture Minister, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Agriculture Secretary Director of Agriculture, and others were present on the occasion. Vaccination campaign will be conducted twice a year for next five years.

As tension between India and China persists despite talks at various military and diplomatic levels, the Indian Army is ensuring that it is prepared for all eventualities even as the severe Ladakh winter approaches. To complement increased soldier deployment, tanks like the T-90 and the T-72 have reportedly been made operational in the area, along with infantry combat vehicles. These tanks can reportedly operate at temperatures as low as minus 40 degress Celsius. Chief of Staff of the Leh-headquartered 14 Corps, Major General Arvind Kapoor, gave a briefing about the Army's efforts to ensure that soldiers are able to function at optimum levels while battling the extreme chill along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. He listed equipment like special winter clothing, special tents, and heaters, which are being provided to soldiers, along with preparation of special living quarters - some of which can even be moved with helicopters. Meanwhile, tension at various friction points along the LAC continues. Soldiers of both sides are eyeball-to-eyeball at Finger 4, Rezang La-Rechin La ridgeline, and Gogra Hot Springs.
