A softshell turtle was rescued by the forest department officials in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district.

They rescued the Trionychidae with the help of locals on June 01.

Softshell turtle is one of the rare species of turtle.

While speaking to ANI, the District Forest Officer (DFO) of Baripada, Swayam Mallick said, "The turtle was caught in fishing net in Jambhira Dam.

Later, it was released in the dam."
