Parents are becoming teachers because of the coronavirus pandemicOne mother of three is teaching her children while they do distance learning.

That's because so many children are learning from home.

Wtva's chelsea brown spoke with one parent about her journey from a traditional classroom to virtual learning.

Tesha mitchell is the mother and teacher of a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grader who used to go to traditional classes here at tupelo christian preparatory school.

I spoke with her about how she is making it work.

"first time that we ever thought about virtual school or homeschooling out children so we were rouge."

Tesha mitchell is a stay at home mother with the new title of teacher.

Mitchell's children were traditional students at tupelo christian preparatory school before march and the coronavirus pandemic.

"last year we had teachers preparing our lesson plans and stuff for us but this year i had to do it."

Her children had to finish last school year online.

So, this year mitchell opted virtual learning for her children.

Mitchell added tables to one bedroom in her house for here kids to do their schoolwork.

She set it up with all of their school supplies and a dry erase board.

Mitchell purchased the same curriculum the school uses and began homeschooling this semester.

"i know they miss their friends, they call them in the afternoon so i'm ready for that social interaction."

The children take math, reading, writing, bible, and mitchell added p.e.

And art to their class list.

"i just hope we are able to prepare our children for the future."

She believes keeping her children home right now for school is the best option.

"like to build an environment of no fear during this pandemic, because we have never been through anything like this."

Mitchell will have her children return to traditional class for the second semester.
