NDA ally HAM created a flutter on Monday with its leader Jitan Ram Manjhi demanding a judicial inquiry into the death of union minister Ram Vilas Paswan while pointing an accusing finger at Chirag Paswan, prompting the LJP chief to claim it was a "plot" by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to discredit him when the election was underway.
Chirag Paswan, in an angry retort to Manjhi, said the former chief minister should ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the issue.
Paswan jr. said Modi used to call him up every day to inquire after his late father when he was sick and hospitalized, sometimes to even inform him about the LJP founder's condition after talking to doctors attending to him.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha by-election as an NDA (National Democratic Alliance) candidate in Patna on December 02. He was accompanied by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. He said, "Sushil Modi has our full support." Voting for Rajya Sabha by-election is scheduled on December 14. The seat was left vacant after demise of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

He came to power through back door, he has thirst for power." "The destruction of Bihar by him is for everyone to see. Nitish Kumar is a bargainer, a blackmailer. He is not a leader. He is not for people, he is for himself," Yadav added.
JDU leader KC Tyagi lashed out at the BJP over the defection of 6 JDU MLAs to the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh. ‘We express anguish over six JD (U) MLAs from Arunachal Pradesh joining BJP. This is not a good sign for alliance politics,’ Tyagi said during a press conference. He also attacked the BJP over the Love Jihad law in several BJP ruled states and said that the JDU does not support such divisive laws. ‘An atmosphere of hatred and division is being created in the country in the name of 'love jihad'. After SAD, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) quit NDA alliance on December 26 in protest against the new farm laws. RLP chief Hanuman Beniwal said the party is leaving NDA to support farmers. “The central government is firm on not rolling back the farm laws. Hence I have left the NDA in protest. These laws are anti-farmer. I have left NDA (National Democratic Alliance) but won't forge an alliance with Congress,” said Beniwal. RLP supporters joined protesting farmers on Jaipur-Delhi national highway. Farmers have been protesting over Centre’s three farm laws. PM Narendra Modi said that India is capable of taking all steps to meet challenges. Addressing a rally of the NCC in Delhi, PM Modi said that India has shown capabilities on all fronts. He was referring to the production of made in India vaccines against coronavirus. "Be it the virus or challenges at our borders, India is capable of dealing with them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 28 said that around one lakh NCC cadets, which include more than 30% girl cadets, are being trained by Army, Navy and Air Force for border areas. PM said, "On 15th August last year, it was announced that NCC will be given new responsibilities in around 175 districts in the coastal and border areas. For this around, 1 lakh NCC cadets are being trained by Army, Navy and Air Force. Of these, 1/3rd cadets are girls."
