President-elect Joe Biden unveiled a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 stimulus plan on Thursday. It includes $1,400 checks, according to Business Insider. Biden had pledged $2,000 direct payments to Americans. The $1,400 checks would be in addition to the $600 direct payments provided most recently. This would be welcomed funds as more and more Americans face eviction and hunger. Most developed countries worldwide have been supporting their citizens with funds since last March.
Andrew Williams was one of the Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol on January 6th. Days later, he asked, "How are they going to arrest every single person?" in a live stream. His expression of doubt regarding the insurrection was fairly widespread among participants. Williams was arrested on January 13th, according to Business Insider. Petco soared as much as 73% in its first day of trading on Thursday. Petco raised $817 million in its IPO debut after its shares priced at $18. Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has been criminally charged with willful neglect of duty. The charges come in connection with the Flint water crisis. Former Michigan health director Nick Lyons is another official also expected to face charges. The Flint water crisis started in 2014, when the city decided to switch to a new water supply to save costs. Business Insider reports the water supply the city moved to use, however, was contaminated with lead and other toxins.
