SUNY Morrisville basketball teams sidelined with NEAC cancellation of season
The North Eastern Athletic Conference cancelled its 2020-21 men's and women's basketball seasons amid the coronavirus pandemic, ending Mustangs men's and women's teams hope at playing this academic year.
Conference has announced the decision to cancel competition for men's and women's basketball this academic year.
As a result - the suny morrisville men's and women's hoops teams - who play in the neac - will be sidelined this winter.
The conference's presidents' council voted on the matter out of an abundance of concern regarding the health and well- being of student- athletes - staff and campus communities.
The council cited increasing coronavirus positivity rates in its membership communiites - testing challenges and travel restrictions with member teams from in multiple states as the main reasons for the decision.
The conference said it will make a decition regarding spring sports at a later date.
Suny morrisville officials said they will also continue to evaluate options to return their teams to play when it is safe to do so.
