Increase in prices of crude oil in international markets led to fuel price hike: Dharmendra Pradhan

On increasing fuel prices in the country, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan said that it has happened due to increase in prices of crude oil in international markets. Dharmendra Pradhan said, "Due to an increase in prices of crude oil in international markets, consumer price (for petrol and diesel) has risen. This will soften gradually. Global supply was reduced due to COVID in turn affecting production as well. Sonia ji must know Rajasthan and Maharashtra have maximum tax. Earnings of Centre and State government were negligible during lockdown. We have allocated large chunks to various sectors in Budget to increase jobs." He further said, "We are consistently requesting the GST council to include petroleum products under its purview as it will benefit people. But it is their call to take."

Petroleum Minister lists out probable reasons behind fuel price hike

Amid protests, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the reasons behind rising fuel prices, which included reduced fuel production and manufacturing in International market and COVID-19. On the international market, Pradhan said reduced production is making the consumer countries suffer. "We have continuously been urging the OPEC and OPEC plus countries that it should not happen. We hope there will be a change," he added. He further added that both Centre and State governments have to collect tax for various development works. "Spending on development work will generate more jobs. Government has increased its investment and 34% more capital spending will be done in this budget. State governments will also increase spending. This is why we need this tax but there is also the need for balance. I believe Finance Minister can find a way," said Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Yoga Guru Ramdev launched Patanjali's ‘Coronil’ to cure Covid-19 on Friday. Patanjali Ayurved said Coronil has got Ayush Ministry’s certification as per WHO scheme. The company claimed that it is the first evidence-based medicine to fight Covid-19. Ramdev also released research paper to back Patanjali's solutions to Covid-19. The ayurvedic medicine against coronavirus was launched at an event in New Delhi. The event was presided by Union Ministers Harsh Vardhan and Nitin Gadkari. Patanjali had earlier introduced Ayurveda-based Coronil on June 23 last year. The Haridwar-based firm, however, had to face criticism as it lacked scientific evidence. The Ayush Ministry, back then, had indicated it as 'Immuno-booster' only. Coronil is developed by Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Research Institute. It had started work for an Ayurvedic remedy for Covid-19 in January, 2020.
