But the firebrand nationalist's fame and charisma were not enough.
Khan’s political career has seen his rise and a sudden downfall.
The boy from Lahore with a Midas-like touch was caught on a sticky wicket and ousted as the Prime Minister of Pakistan through a historic no-confidence motion passed in a midnight session of the National Assembly last year.
Pakistan has accused India's intelligence agency of being involved in two suicide blasts that jolted the country on Friday. According to reports, the death toll due to the blasts rose to 65. Pakistan hurled the accusations against India on Saturday, a day after the explosions rocked two regions of the country. The first explosion took place near a mosque in Balochistan's Mastung district after a bomber detonated his explosives near a police vehicle where people were gathering for a procession to mark the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad. Hours later, another explosion took place at a mosque in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu city that killed at least 5 people.

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh was arrested on Wednesday by the Enforcement Directorate following the central agency's searches at his residence in connection with its money laundering probe into alleged irregularities in Delhi excise policy 2021-22. Around 43 people including 23 Army personnel and 20 civilians are missing in Sikkim after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in the Teesta River. As per the latest reports, three people died and 23 army personnel were washed away on Wednesday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is likely to step down on Wednesday. The coalition government led by him is all set to dissolve Pakistan's National Assembly prematurely to get extra time for holding the general elections scheduled for later this year. The five-year tenure of the lower house of the Parliament is ending on August 12. But it is likely to be dissolved on August 9 by Prime Minister Sharif who will send advice to President Arif Alvi. In case the president dithers, the assembly would be dissolved within 48 hours of advice given by the premier.
