Council of Europe's human rights commissioner condemns UK's Rwanda bill

Belgrade, Serbia: Violence escalated across Serbia as anti-government protests entered their fifth consecutive night. In Valjevo, masked protesters set fire to the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) offices before clashing with riot police. Security forces deployed tear gas and stun grenades as demonstrators hurled fireworks and rocks in Belgrade and Novi Sad. The protests, sparked by a deadly railway station collapse last year that killed 16, have grown into a massive anti-corruption movement now demanding early elections. Viral videos showing police brutality have fueled outrage, including clips of officers beating unarmed protesters. Despite the resignation of the prime minister, President Aleksandar Vučić remains defiant, denouncing the unrest as a foreign-backed plot. Russia pledged support for the embattled leader, while the Council of Europe urged Serbian authorities to end excessive force. The nation now faces its biggest political crisis in over a decade.
