In response to recent Ukrainian drone strikes that damaged residential areas in Moscow's suburbs, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has sharply criticised the attacks, asserting that they have no place in legitimate military operations. Peskov condemned the targeting of civilian infrastructure, describing it as a clear indication of the aggressive nature of the Ukrainian government. He emphasised that Russia must continue its military operations to protect against such attacks, while the Defense Ministry reported intercepting 144 drones during the overnight assault. According to the Financial Times, soldiers, lawmakers, and military analysts are expressing frustration over the rapid advances made by Russian forces, which have reportedly exploited weaknesses in Ukraine’s defense strategy. This city’s loss would have severe implications for Ukrainian military logistics, with analysts describing the current defensive situation as a “complete failure” and “complete chaos.”
