State govts to raise Rs 50,000 crore in a day, set bond record

IndiaTimes Sunday, 17 March 2024
On Tuesday, 17 states are set to collectively borrow over Rs 50,000 crore through bond auctions, marking the highest single-day borrowing in India's bond market history by both central and state governments. Despite this record amount, experts believe that the market yields are unlikely to be significantly impacted, thanks to the effective management of gilt auctions by the RBI and central government this fiscal year.
