Celebs under scanner for 'contributions' to Police

An RTI reveals that Bollywood actors, including Akshay Kumar, Rohit Shetty, Anushka Sharma, and Tiger Shroff, made substantial contributions to the Mumbai Police Foundation (MPF). From May 2018 to March 2023, the MPF received a total of Rs 25.49 crore, with a significant surge in collections during the pandemic. The fund conducted background checks on donors to ensure transparency and prevent dubious contributions from impacting ongoing probes. Despite concerns about conflicts of interest, the police officer overseeing the MPF emphasized that investigations involving charge-sheeted individuals were not influenced by contributions.
