Kumar had previously named Akshay Kumar as his true successor in patriotic cinema, praising Akshay's authenticity and dedication to portraying national pride. Manoj Kumar, fondly called “Bharat Kumar”, was celebrated for defining Indian patriotic cinema with films like 'Purab Aur Paschim' and 'Upkar'. His last film appearance was in the family drama ‘Ik Onkaar’ in 2018.
