Friday, 1 March 2024 He's back! The left-wing firebrand and Celtic FC fanatic George Galloway has now scored a hat-trick of election victories over Labour, the party he represented in parliament for 16 years.
Sir Keir Starmer claims George Galloway only won the Rochdale by-election because Labour didn't stand there. Reacting to Galloway's victory, Mr Starmer said: "I regret that we had to withdraw our candidate and I apologise to voters in Rochdale. But I took that decision and it was the right decision."...
The Labour leader hailed the win by his party’s candidate David Skaith in the York and North Yorkshire mayoral election, an area he described as “the heart of Tory territory”. Appearing at Northallerton Town Football Club with new mayor Mr Skaith, Sir Keir said: “It’s an amazing moment in history, to have a Labour victory here.''
