More than 2,400 hospital patients told they may have been exposed to infectious diseases
Friday, 12 July 2024 More than 2,400 hospital patients in Oregon are being notified they may have been exposed to infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B and C because of a doctor who may not have followed proper procedures, health officials have said.
A 42-year-old man, Tony Latrell Williams, went on a stabbing spree at a homeless shelter in Salem, Oregon, injuring 12 people, including staff and guests. Five remain hospitalized in serious condition. Witnesses say the attack began in the lobby and spilled outside before police arrested Williams nearby. The motive remains unclear, though officials believe it was not a targeted attack. Williams faces multiple charges, including attempted Murder. Despite the violence, Union Gospel Mission continued services, calling for prayers and unity during recovery.
