Police respond to claims Southend is 'no-go zone' after recent violence
Sunday, 18 August 2024 Essex Police said it "categorically rejects" suggestions parts of Southend-on-Sea are a "no-go zone" after a violent incident in the city earlier this summer.

Essex Police has denied claims it "bussed" counter-protesters to a demonstration outside a hotel housing asylum seekers last week. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Chief Constablel of Essex, Ben-Julian Harrington said: "What has been unacceptable has been the people who have come to Epping and committed violence."
