‘Five lakh Bengali Hindu NRC rejects will get citizenship’

The remaining — over 13 lakh, including seven lakh Muslims — people will have to approach the foreigners tribunals to establish their eligibility for getting Indian citizenship. On Monday, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal had furnished a list of about two lakh Bengali Hindus, living in nine of the state’s 34 districts, who are “eligible for citizenship”.
