A day after Jharkhand government issued an order to not permit Chhath Puja in water bodies amid COVID-19, on November 17 issued new guidelines. As per new guidelines, people now can celebrate Chhath Puja at river banks and ponds while following all COVID19 protocols, informed state Chief Minister Hemant Soren while speaking to media persons. He said, "It has been decided that Chhath Puja can be celebrated at river banks and ponds while following all COVID-19 protocols like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on October 08 handed over appointment letters to 24 newly recruited District Sports Officers (DSOs). The posting of district sports officers was done through lottery by the Chief Minister. During the event, the Jharkhand Chief Minister said that the state government is planning to launch a sports portal for players before Durga Puja, where current players, instructor referees, retired players will be able to register their full details.
A man called, Wilson Makdi has been rescued after Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren appealed to District Administration of Simdega, to rescue him. Wilson was trapped at the Koel River and battling for life and death for last 15 hours. After CM's intervention in the matter on Twitter, the man was rescued safely.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed grief on the demise of state's Minority Welfare Minister Haji Hussain Ansari. He died on evening of October 03 due to cardiac arrest at a hospital in Ranchi. CM Soren said that he stayed in JMM like a family. Ansari had also tested positive for COVID-19 but was recovered from the deadly virus.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha decided to contest Bihar elections independently, said party's General Secretary Suprio Bhattacharya on October 06. "Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has decided to go solo in Bihar elections. We have identified seven Assembly constituencies where we will contest the polls," said Bhattacharya.
Six people were rescued and two others went missing after a vessel carrying eight trucks capsized in Ganga river in Malda district of West Bengal on night of November 23. According to Malda's Zilla Parishad, Sabhadhipati Gaur Chandra Mondal, the launch boat was coming from Rajmahal ghat of Jharkhand, but got drowned during unloading of trucks at Manikchak ghat in Malda. Search and rescue operation is underway to trace the two missing individuals. Meanwhile, the Malda administration has initiated an enquiry to find the cause of the incident.
Devotees flocked to ghats in Patna to offer 'argha' to Sun God on the last day of Chhath puja. It is the four-day long Hindu festival which is mainly observed by the people of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Today is the final day of the festival, and on the fourth and the final day, devotees pray before sunrise and end their fast by eating special prasad and delicacies.

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has hit back at BJP leader Tejasvi Surya who said likened him to Jinnah and accused him of spreading rabid Islamism and allowing Rohingya Muslims to settle in Hyderabad. Owaisi said that if he had indeed allowed Rohinya Muslims into Hyderabad and around 30,000 of them have found their way into the voter list, what was Home Minister Amit Shah doing? Owaisi said that the BJP had run out of ideas and hence was frustrated ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls. On Monday, BJP MP Tejashwi Surya had said that every vote for the AIMIM is a vote against the country. ‘He speaks the language of rabid Islamism, separatism and extremism which Mohd Ali Jinnah was also speaking. Every single vote to Owaisi is a vote against India and everything that India stands for,’ Surya had said.
