J&K: Encounter breaks out in Tral area in Pulwama district
Wednesday, 1 July 2020 Police officials said that a joint team of police, 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation on specific information gathered by the police about the presence of militants in the area.
The women soldiers of Assam Rifles have been deployed in JandK's Kupwara to keep a check on weapon and drug smuggling. A soldier said, "There were inputs that women and children are being used to do smuggling, we have been brought here to curb it." 'Rifle Women' unit of the Assam Rifles has been deployed in the region for first time.
Vehicles were stuck in an overflowing water stream in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar. In a video recorded by onlookers, two vehicles can be seen stuck in the stream. One of the vehicles was seen overturning due to heavy water flow. The stream was overflowing due to heavy rainfall in the area. With an aim to bring sports at grass-root levels and to nurture the young talent from far flung areas of Kashmir Valley Government of India has allocated Rs 4 crore each for construction of indoor sports stadiums in all the 22 districts of the Union territory. These stadiums would offer multi-utility sports facilities for the local youth to groom their talent. One such indoor sports stadium is being constructed at Tral area of Pulwama district of South Kashmir. The construction work is going on at full pace and will be completed soon. Construction work is being executed by engineering wing of sports council. Indoor stadiums will have facilities such as gymnasium, volleyball and badminton courts, and these projects have to be completed during the financial year 2019-2020. Local sportspersons appreciated this step taken by the Centre as it will help local talent to showcase their potential in the country and world stage.
Brigadier Vijay Mahadevan, Commander of 1 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, informed about the Tral encounter in which three terrorists were neutralised. "Yesterday evening, we received a specific intelligence input from Jammu and Kashmir Police about the presence of unidentified terrorists in the village Chiwa near Tral," informed Brigadier Vijay Mahadevan. "Today morning when terrorists tried to escape from a house they were neutralised in the gunfight. We attempted to induce their surrender but they refused. 3 terrorists were neutralised today morning. During this entire operation no civilians were injured or harm," the Brigadier added. The encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Encounter took place at Chewa Ullar in Tral area of Awantipora on June 26.
One terrorist has been neutralised in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on July 7. The undergoing encounter started in Goosu area of Pulwama in early morning. Police and security forces are carrying out the operation. Further details are awaited.
Two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bandzoo area of Pulwama on Tuesday. One CRPF personnel who had sustained bullet injury in the encounter and was evacuated to a hospital has succumbed to his injuries. The encounter broke out in the early hours of Tuesday, and a search operation is underway, said Jammu and Kashmir Police. Police and security forces are on the job, it added. One unidentified terrorist has been neutralized in Meej Pampore encounter so far. The encounter was broke in Awantipora city of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. It started in the early hours of Thursday.
Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Army's 38 Rashtriya Rifles on July 22 busted a terrorist hideout during a cordon and search operation in Rajouri's Thanamandi area. In a joint operation they recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the area. They recovered 1 Pika gun, 1 Chinese Pistol, 168 Pika rounds, 47 AK rounds and 2 UBGL grenades recovered.
The Commander Officer of 12 Sector Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, Brigadier Ajay Katoch informed that total number of three militants got killed in an encounter at Ashmipora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on July 18. While sharing details on the gunfight in a press conference Brigadier said, "While the search party immediately retaliated the fire, 3 terrorist were killed." "We were regularly getting inputs over improvised explosive device (IED) attacks on security forces, in last five- six operation starting of end of June till now there have been presence of Pakistani terrorist", Brigadier Ajay Katoch added.
Brigadier Vijay Mahadevan, Commander of 1 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, informed that a six year old child was killed during an indiscriminate firing by terrorists in Bijbehara town of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir on June 26. "Today afternoon the terrorists carried out a barbaric cold blooded murder of a six year old child at Bijbehara. They started firing indiscriminately on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) picket. I condemned such attack and I appeal to the parents to insulate their innocent civilians from this negative influence.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai visited Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) headquarters in Delhi on July 27 on the occasion of 82nd Raising Day of CRPF. During his speech, Rai remembered bravery of CRPF officials during Indo-China war in1959 and said, "We are celebrating the Raising Day of CRPF and during this COVID-19 pandemic time, CRPF is continuously working to help the citizens with great bravery. In the Hot Springs area of Ladakh in October 21, 1959, when China attacked us, 10 CRPF jawans lost their lives but China had to suffer a heavier loss. This glorious history is also associated with CRPF."
Leader of Opposition of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly GC Kataria on Congress MLAs urged the central government to deploy CRPF in the state so that "the sanctity of the constitutional post is upheld". He said, "I urge the central government to not leave the law and order in the hands of Rajasthan Police and deploy CRPF here so that the sanctity of this constitutional post is upheld. Those protesting at Raj Bhawan should be driven out and all legal remedies should be used for it." Targeting Ashok Gehlot, GC Kataria said, "The manner in which you protested at Raj Bhawan and the kind of slogans which were raised, I think no other CM can do something as condemnable as this. Nation and legal experts should look into this that CM is saying that people will do 'gherao' of Raj Bhawan."
