Massive protests took place in Muzaffarabad city of Pakitan occupied Kashmir. The protest was over mega-dams construction by Chinese firms. The dams are reportedly to be constructed on Neelum-Jhelum river. Protesters chanted slogans in support of Jhelum River. China Gezhouba Group Company will sponsor the $1.54 billion project. "We don’t have money to for food, how will we afford electricity. We oppose the plundering of our natural resources. 6000 Chinese military engineers have entered PoK. Who will pay for them, we don’t know what will happen to us," said PoK Activist, Dr Amjad Ayub Mirza.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern visited a temple on August 6. PM Ardern visited Radha Krishna Mandir in Auckland. Indian envoy Muktesh Pardeshi was also present at the event. As she entered, Ardern removed her footwear as is customary. She then entered the main sanctum to the sound of conch shells. Mantras were being read out as she walked towards the idols. A priest put a 'teeka' on her forehead and gave her a saffron scarf. She stood with folded hands as the priest finished the prayers. PM Ardern later ate Indian dishes like 'puri' and 'chhole'. PM Ardern is currently riding high on her successful Covid response. New Zealand recently completed 100 days with zero domestic transmission of Covid. The nation is slated to go to polls in September.

A billboard of Ayodhya's Ram Temple was seen at Times Square in New York. The billboard appeared on day of temple's foundation stone laying ceremony. The digital billboard featured Lord Ram next to the upcoming temple in Ayodhya. Earlier, at a grand ceremony in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the 'bhumi pujan', and laid the foundation stone of the new Ram temple. After offering prayers at Hanumangarhi and the idols of 'Ram lalla', or the child deity, PM Modi participated in the bhumi pujan rituals. All the participants, including the PM and the priests, wore face masks and observed social distancing norms due to the raging Covid-19 pandemic. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and UP CM Yogi Adityanath also attended the grand ceremony. Attendance at the event was limited due to the outbreak. The construction of the Ram temple is beginning 9 months after the Supreme Court handed the Mandir side the disputed site while awarding an alternate plot to the Babri Masjid litigants.
