Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar conducted a review meeting with elected representatives on July 30. The meeting was held to discuss the measures taken to tackle the spread of COVID-19. Aaditya Thackeray was also present in the review meeting.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on July 25 flagged off 25 ambulances in Mumbai. These ambulances will offer services in helping COVID patients in Bandra Kurla Complex. Ambulances are equipped with state-of-the-art equipments including life assistance services. Chief Minister Thackeray was accompanied by his son Aaditya Thackeray and Transport Minister Anil Parab.
On August 06, Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Iqbal Singh Chahal visited Peddar Road where a portion of a wall has collapsed in Mumbai. Due to heavy rainfall, part of retaining wall of ridge road at NS Patkar Marg collapsed. The road clearance process is underway. Speaking on the current situation of Mumbai rainfall, Commissioner Chahal said, "4 wards including Colaba, Nariman Point and Marine Drive received 300mm rainfall in 4 hrs yesterday. It was worse than 2005. It was unprecedented. Waterlogged areas were cleared soon." Intense rainfall led to sever waterlogging in parts of the city. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai's Colaba received 331.8mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. A high tide of 4.33 meter expected at 1351 hours on Aug 06. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai city and suburbs are very likely to receive few spells of moderate to heavy rainfall during next 3-4 hours accompanied with strong winds reaching 60-70 kmph. There is a possibility of thunder or lightning in some areas.
While speaking to ANI in Patna on August 06, the DGP of Bihar, Gupteshwar Pandey spoke on Mumbai police's move of quarantining Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari. He said, "Mumbai police's move of quarantining Bihar IPS officer is unprofessional. Even, Supreme Court has given its observation in the matter. Still, there is no positive response from them (Mumbai police). I had hopes that they'll free him by evening or night but when I talked to them they told me that Tiwari has still not been freed." Facebook and Twitter have yet again acted against a video shared by accounts linked to U.S. President Donald Trump for violating their policies on coronavirus misinformation. The Trump re-election campaign’s Twitter account, @TeamTrump, was briefly banned from sending new tweets after it posted a clip of an interview where Trump can be heard saying that children are virtually immune to Covid. Facebook then removed the same clip when it was posted by President Trump. However, Trump defended his statement at a press briefing later and said that children seem to do really well against Covid as their immune system is very strong. He said that his argument is backed by every statistic that has come out on Covid. Trump has been repeatedly accused of spreading misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed over 150,000 people across the United States, including the infamous suggestion that virus victims could be injected with disinfectant. Twitter and facebook had earlier also blocked a video posted by Trump which defended the use of hydroxychloroquine for treating Covid. Watch the full video for all the details.

A massive fire broke out at a COVID care hospital in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on August 06. Around eight people died in the fire at Shrey Hospital in Ahmedabad. More details are awaited in this regard. While speaking to media, the JCP at Sector 1 in Ahmedabad, Rajendra Asari spoke on Shrey Hospital fire incident which has claimed 8 lives. He said, "We are taking the help of fire and forensic experts in the investigation." "A trustee of the hospital is being interrogated and will take help from CCTV footage in this incident," he added.
Different parts of Maharashtra face severe waterlogging and flood-like situation following incessant heavy rainfall. Waterlogging was seen in Vandana Cinema area of Thane district in Maharashtra. There is flood-like situation near Upvan Lake of Thane due to continuous downpour. India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted-'Generally cloudy sky with Heavy rain' in Thane on August 06. Speaking to ANI, the Municipal Commissioner of Thane, Dr Vipin Sharma said, "Thane Municipal Corporation area has been receiving very heavy rainfall since past 3 days, received 149 mm rainfall on August 05. We are alert. Assistant and Deputy Commissioners, Fire Brigade are on field." "I appeal to residents to not step out of houses unnecessarily," he added.
