J&K police arrest two JeM terrorists in Kupwara; AK-47, grenades recovered
Thursday, 10 September 2020 () On receiving inputs that two JeM terrorists belonging to Sopore area are likely to visit Kupwara to conduct terrorist activities and recruit youth in their ranks, nakas were set up at different locations.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Police Premier League (PPL) T-20 cricket tournament in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar. Director General of Police (DGP) of J-K, Dilbag Singh was also present in the event. 16 teams from Srinagar are participating in the tournament. "16 teams from Srinagar are participating in it. We want youth and children to have some relaxed and healthy moments," DGP said.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said that he was not against the operations being carried out by security forces in the valley but against the loss of innocent lives during those operations. "The Army has agreed that the three persons who were killed in Shopian were killed by mistake and the government should provide a huge compensation in this case," Abdullah said. Yesterday, Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane had said that the investigation into the Amshipora case will be conducted with utmost fairness and will be taken to their logical conclusion. Meanwhile, the Army said that the inquiry ordered by the Army authorites into Operation Amshipora has concluded adding that during the operation, powers vested under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1990 were exceeded.

Indian Army conducted a job fair and career counseling event for the educated unemployed youths of Gujjarpatti Lolab valley in Kupwara, a district in North Kashmir. The experts held intensive discussion and explained the importance of peaceful life with dignity. Interestingly, nine boys were given job offers by agencies and they will be placed all across the Kashmir valley in various sectors. "In order to prevail peace in the Valley, we have given job appointments to the nine youth in different sectors like hotel industry, Petrol Pumps, Cotton industries across India. This will help them lead a good life with their family," Mahajan told ANI. "We are very thankful that they have given us a good opportunity. We belong to a family that cannot afford things that they have provided us. This job opportunity will help our family to grow," Shabir Ahmad, a beneficiary said. Khurshid Malik, Member Block development Council, Sogam Lolab thanked Indian Army for the initiative and providing new opportunities to the youth of Kashmir.
The BSF shot dead five heavily armed Pakistani intruders along the India-Pakistan International Border in Punjab early Saturday. This was the highest number of intruders killed in a single incident along the 3,300-km-long border with Pakistan in more than a decade, officials said. A BSF spokesperson said troops recovered nine packets containing 9.92kg heroin, an AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 27 rounds, four 9mm Berretta pistols with seven magazines and 109 live rounds, two mobile phones and Rs610 in Pakistani currency after a gunbattle with the intruders near the Dal border post in Tarn Taran district. The border post is guarded by the 103rd battalion of the Border Security Force.

The security forces neutralized two Lashkar-e-Taibe terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from these terrorists. 2 AK-47 has been also recovered from the terrorists.
One terrorist involved in Baramulla attack has been killed by security forces on August 17. Body of the terrorist recovered along with an AK-47 rifle. Area has been cordoned off. Operation is still underway. More details are awaited.
Terrorists attempted a grenade attack on an Army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred at Baramulla's Azadganj bridge. The grenade missed its target and exploded on the road instead. However, at least 5 people were injured, with 2 seriously hurt. The latter were admitted to a hospital in Srinagar. The market where the blast took place had opened after a 6-day local lockdown, necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This was the second such incident in a span of 24 hours. The first attack was in Sopore on August 30. The grenade in Baramulla was possibly thrown from an old hospital building. Watch the full video for more.

In a major success for security forces, 2 terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-E-Toiba were gunned down in Handwara. A substantial amount of arms and ammunitions, including 2 AK-47s were also seized after the encounter. The two slain terrorists have been identified as lashkar commander Naseer-u-din Lone and Pakistani terrorist Danish. Naseer was reportedly involved in the killing of three CRPF jawans at Sopore on April 18 and another three CRPF jawans at Handwara on May 4 this year. An AK-47 rifle, which was snatched from a CRPF jawan after the attack on May 4, was recovered from him. The encounter at Ganipora Kralgund area of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district started after security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Jammu and Kashmir police chief said that the killing of Danish was also a big success for the security forces. The encounter was the second such operation on Wednesday.
