The 'dargah' of Peer Budan Ali Shah or Peer Baba as it is known, is the perfect example of communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. People of all religion throng this shrine and get blessings. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs come to this 'dargah' in large number and pray. There is a belief that the 'dargah' protects people of this city from mishaps and evil spirits. The shrine is located in the outskirts of Jammu city at a distance of about 8 Kilometres towards the aerodrome at Satwari. Baba Budan Shah was born at Talwandi in Punjab, and it is said that another shrine of this Peer is located at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab. In spite of being the 'dargah' of a Muslim saint, Hindus and Sikh devotees who flock this religious place particularly on Thursdays are far greater in number than the Muslim followers. National Conference president and former chief minister of JandK, Farooq Abdullah, on September 19 said in Lok Sabha that border skirmishes are on a rise in Jammu and Kashmir and talks should be held with other neighbours, like the engagement is taking place with China. "Like we are talking to China to resolve issues, we need to hold talks with the other neighbour country as well. People are dying every day, border skirmishes are on a rise. We need to find some solution," said Abdullah.
Manoj Sinha, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, announced a package worth Rs 1,350 crore aimed at boosting economic activity in the Union Territory. While the package contains some relief for common people like 50% discount on electricity and water bills for a year, the main beneficiaries are businesspersons, traders, and industrialists. From an interest subvention scheme for all commercial borrowers, to doubling of amount available under the credit card scheme for the handicraft industry, and special efforts to boost tourism - the announcement will help create lakhs of jobs in J&K, as per the L-G. Commenting on the scheme, chief of the J&K Apni Party, Altaf Bukhari, said that Sinha had proven that he was a man of his word by expeditiously bringing in an economic package. However, he added that given the Rs 40,000 crore loss suffered by the UT's economy, the current package was a drop in the ocean, and a 'large heart' was needed to truly revive J&K's economy. In its bid to contain the coronavirus pandemic in the Kashmir valley, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is setting up COVID-19 testing camps in rural areas of the union territory. These camps are being set up for ensuring safer testing for the people who can't visit the hospitals due to the threat of the virus. In line with this, the government organised a testing camp in Sheikhpora village in Budgam district where the health officials went door to door to take the samples of locals and provided immediate results. People in large numbers took part in the camp and appreciated the government initiative which they said will further help in controlling the spread of the deadly virus. The testing camp also helps those who travelling plans since the immediate results helps in determining their health status. This COVID-19 testing facility ensures isolating those who found positive and containing the pandemic which continues to trouble the country.
An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists at Kawoosa Khalisa area of Budgam district on Monday. Last week, four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror associates were arrested by security forces in Budgam. More details are awaited.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and former chief minister of JandK, Farooq Abdullah on September 19 demanded discussion of the Amshipora case, wherein three Rajouri locals were killed by the Indian Army, in the lower house. Abdullah further said that we are happy that the army has accepted that the boys who were killed in Shopian district were innocent. "We are not against any operation carried out by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, but we are against the killing of innocent lives during the operations. We will raise this topic in the Lok Sabha today," he added.
Locals are lauding the construction of a healthcare centre in Gatipora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The construction of new Primary Health Centre has been the latest to join the fleet of initiatives by the Union Territory government in JandK. The new type PHC will be equipped with all modern medical care facilities. This healthcare centre will be a boon for the locals Gatipora as they had to travel to Srinagar for medical treatments. More than 25,000 people in 24 villages will benefit once the construction of this hospital completes.
Three terrorists were killed on Saturday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter broke out at Zadoora area of Pulwama district. A soldier succumbed to his injuries during the gunbattle. Police said that the gunfight started at around 1am on Saturday. The Army and police personnel jointly launched the operation. One AK and two pistols have been recovered from the terrorists' possession. On Friday, three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Shopian district. Till Friday, six terrorists were killed in the Valley in less than 24 hours.

Ministry of External Affairs, spokesperson Anurag Srivastava on August 27 said that India shared enough evidence with Pakistan on Pulwama terror attack but the country continues to evade responsibility. "Pulwama attack chargesheet was filed after probe of a year and half. It has been filed to address the act of terrorism and to bring perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice. Our aim is not to simply issue statements or notifications, Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for Pulwama attack, the organisation and its leaders are in Pakistan. It's regrettable that Masood Azhar, the first accused, continues to find shelter in Pak. We've shared enough evidence with Pak but it continues to evade responsibility," said Srivastava during press conference.
NIA filed chargesheet in 2019 Pulwama terror attack case on Tuesday. A team of officers reached NIA court in Jammu to file the chargesheet. The IED attack on February 14, 2019 claimed lives of 40 CRPF personnel. NIA has named JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar and his brother Abdul Rauf Asghar as primary accused in chargesheet. Several other JeM commanders and seven arrested people have been named accused. The over 5,000-page chargesheet has been completed after an extensive probe conducted by a team of DIG Sonia Narang and SP Rakesh Balwal. Officials said chargesheet has evidence on Pakistan's role in the attack. NIA probe has revealed that Pakistan used a local - Adil Ahmad Dar - in the attack. Dar rammed an explosive-laden car into the CRPF convoy in Pulwama. NIA chargesheet also has details of communications of key players in bombing. Pulwama attack threatened to spark a full-blown conflict between India and Pakistan. JeM claimed responsibility for the ghastly attack which prompted India to carry out airstrike on terror camp in Pakistan's Balakot.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) team reached NIA court in Jammu to file a chargesheet in 2019 Pulwama terror attack case, in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed in an IED blast on February 14. In July, the NIA informed that it has arrested the seventh accused named, Bilal Ahmed Kuchey, whom the agency has termed as 'a terror associate' on July 05.According to the agency, Kuchey a resident of Hajibal, Kakapora, Jammu and Kashmir, runs a sawmill at his place and harboured and extended logistic support to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists involved in the Pulwama attack. The main perpetrators in the case stayed in his house and Kuchey further introduced them to other over ground workers (OGWs) who provided safe houses during their stay and planning of the attack. He also provided the JeM terrorists with high-end mobile phones which were used by them to communicate with the Pakistan-based JeM leadership as well as among themselves for giving final touches to their planning and for the execution of the attack, according to the agency. Further, one of the mobiles provided by him was also used for recording the video clip of a terrorist Adil Ahmed Dar, which became viral after the attack.
