India sees 84k fresh Covid cases, toll set to cross 90k
Tuesday, 22 September 2020 The death toll from Covid-19 infections in India was set to cross 90,000 even as fresh cases reported on Tuesday rose to more than 84,000 after a sharp drop the previous day due to a massive fall in testing. There were 1,101 fatalities from the virus reported during the day. Cumulative Covid-19 deaths in the country stood at 89,984, just 16 short of the 90,000 mark, as per data.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagat Prakash Nadda on October 31 held a massive roadshow in Bihar's Hajipur. COVID-19 norms were flouted during the political rally. The first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls concluded on October 28, while the remaining two phases of voting are scheduled to be held on November 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on Nov 10.
