Moderate fog engulfed the national capital on the morning of January 24. Bitter cold conditions prevail in parts of north India. Minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius is expected in the upcoming week in Delhi. According to the India Meteorological Department, cold wave to severe cold wave is predicted in isolated pockets of Delhi for next 2-3 days. Northern Indian states including the Himalayas can likely to witness rain, thunderstorm and snow during the next few days. IMD's regional Met centre in New Delhi has issued orange alerts over Uttar Pradesh for Jan 24 and across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi for Jan 24 and 25.
A scuffle broke out between protesting farmers and officials of Uttarakhand Police on Haridwar-Dehradun Road in Lachhiwala on Jan 23 after the latter tried to stop them from marching towards the Raj Bhavan. Farmers in several states, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, are protesting against the three agricultural laws for nearly two months.
Dense fog gripped Delhi-NCR with visibility dropping to zero at most places. The IMD said that minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4 °C over parts of northwest India. Flight services from Delhi were hit due to heavy fog enveloping the city-state. Meanwhile, air quality remained in 'severe' category in several parts of Delhi-NCR. Air quality index (AQI) of the national capital on Saturday morning was 441. Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida and Noida also recorded 'severe' air quality. This happens mainly due to low wind speed not allowing dispersal of pollutants in the air. Dense fog at isolated pockets is likely over many north Indian states during the next three days. Cold wave conditions are also likely to prevail over the northern states during the next two days.

The temperature has further dipped in Delhi-NCR. A low visibility was witnessed at Singh border. The border area was reeling under thick layer of fog. The area near India Gate was also under cold weather. Cold waves have tightened its grip in Delhi and adjoining cities. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi's minimum temperature recorded at 4 degrees and maximum temperature was at 18 degrees today. Meanwhile, locals were seen using bonfire to keep themselves warm in UP's Ghaziabad.
