While speaking to media in the national capital after meeting the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on March 04, National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bhupender Yadav said, "A BJP delegation met ECI today. Term of 125 municipal corporations in West Bengal including Kolkata Municipal Corporation ended a year ago. But state government appointed Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders as administrators of these local bodies." "These administrators should be removed to ensure free and fair polls," he added.
Shiv Sena party has announced that the party will not contest in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. The party also has expressed its solidarity with the Trinamool Congress. The Shiv Sena’s chief Spokesperson Sanjay Raut announced the party’s stand in a statement through his tweet.

Muraleedharan, who tweeted in this regard earlier, clarified, saying he wanted to inform that through media reports he learnt that the party has announced Sreedharan as the chief ministerial candidate. But when he cross-checked with Kerala party president K Surendran, he said he has not made any such announcements, Muraleedharan, who is also a former BJP state president, said.
