After saffron, J&K seeks GI tag for gucchi mushroom

After inclusion of saffron in the list of Geographical Indication (GI) tag products, Jammu & Kashmir wants to claim the same status for gucchi mushrooms from Doda. This mushroom variety is among the world's costliest food items that grows wild and is collected manually.

Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir received fresh snowfall. The region was seen covered in a thick layer of the white blanket of snow. Snowfall dipped the temperature in the region and also affected normal life.

Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir region received fresh spell of snowfall and rain which have triggered cold wave conditions in the region. The snowfall led to closure of several roads connecting remote villages in the area. In view of heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of the valley, a 'low danger' avalanche warning was issued for Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda, Anantnag, Kulgam, Baramulla, and Ganderbal.
