‘A govt can never dare to make laws that will harm farmers’: Tomar

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on February 25 said the Centre can never dare to make laws that will harm farmers. “In a democracy, a government can never dare to make laws that will harm farmers," said Narendra Singh Tomar at Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2021 in Delhi. Earlier on Feb 25, Tomar reiterated that the central government is ready to talk to protesting farmers at any time. This comes as farmer leader Rakesh Tikait announced plans of marching to the Parliament with 40 lakh tractors. Farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders against the new farm laws demanding that they be repealed. Discussion between farmer unions and the Centre were inconclusive. 'She has not resigned': Congress on reports of Sushmita Dev's resignation ahead of Assam polls

Congress has clarified that All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev has not resigned from the party. Speaking on the reports of her resignation, Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Pradyut Bordoloi said that Sushmita Dev is indispensable part of Congress and very much with us. "She is very much with us. She is a very indispensable part of Congress. She is respected leader of our party," said Congress Member of Parliament Bordoloi.

'No CAA, free 200 units of electricity in Assam', 'guarantees' Priyanka Gandhi

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi "guaranteed" not to implement CAA in Assam during a rally in Tezpur on March 02. "When our party comes into power, a law will be enacted to ensure that CAA is not implemented here. 200 units of electricity will be given free of cost every month. We will provide Rs 2,000 per month to all the housewives as 'grihini samman'. The woman working in tea gardens will be provided Rs 365 per day. We will create 5 lakhs new government jobs. These are not promises but guarantee," said Gandhi.

BJP takes potshots at Congress, calls it a fringe party

BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra slammed Congress by saying that once called as the grand old party of the country has been reduced as a fringe party and it does not stand as a main national party any more. He also alleged that the alliance which Congress has done to maintain the political relevance of Gandhi family.

International Women's Day: Women take helm of protest against farm laws at Tikri Border

On International Women's Day, women from Punjab reached Tikri on Delhi-Haryana border on to join the ongoing farmers' protest. A protestor said, "We urge the Central Government to roll back the three black laws." Farmers have been protesting on the different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three newly enacted farm laws - Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

'Don't believe rumours, Olympics on track': Kiren Rijiju

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, during 'Fit India Walkathon' in Delhi on March 08, urged countrymen to not believe in rumours and assured that the Olympics are on track and dates are finalised. "The process and protocols are to be decided otherwise the dates are finalised," added Rijiju. The games were scheduled to go-ahead last year in Tokyo, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
