'Function was of Parliament not govt': Om Birla on oppn's boycotting Constitution Day celebrations
Friday, 26 November 2021 Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on Friday said that the opposition parties should have participated in the function of the Constitution Day as it was a function of Parliament not of the government. "I am upset by the boycott of opposition parties. It is my endeavour that there should be no tradition of a boycott during the address of President, Vice President, and the governor," Birla said.
PM Modi slammed the opposition parties for skipping the Constitution Day celebration in Parliament. Modi said ‘family-run parties’ cannot be expected to defend the country’s democracy.
