Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge bypasses Independence Day event at Red Fort, says democracy under threat
Tuesday, 15 August 2023 Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, on Tuesday did not attend the Independence Day function at the Red Fort where Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag and addressed the nation on the occasion. Kharge, instead, went to the party headquarters at 24, Akbar Road in the national capital and hoisted the tricolour. There he said democracy and the Constitution are under grave threat.
