Cauvery row: K’taka to move SC, challenge CWRC directiveState Highlights Inability To Clear Daily Quota

Karnataka plans to challenge the directive from the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) to release 3,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu daily. The state will present its case before the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) and the Supreme Court. Karnataka's chief minister, Siddaramaiah, stated that there is not enough water in the reservoirs to comply with the directive. The state will also challenge the recommendation to release a backlog of 12 tmcft of water to Tamil Nadu. The CWMA will examine the recommendation before making a final decision.
