VS Achuthanandan: One hundred years of rectitude

Senior CPM leader and former chief minister V S Achuthanandan, known as VS, turns 100 on Friday. He started his political career as a weaving worker and rose to prominence through his involvement in the Punnapra-Vayalar uprising. Achuthanandan served as the state secretary of the party and made significant contributions as the opposition leader and chief minister. Despite his ill health, he continues to be revered for his fearless nature and his fight against injustice and exploitation. His birthday celebration is expected to be low-key.
