The party believes that determining the actual population of OBCs and Dalits is crucial for ensuring that benefits meant for them reach the right people. The party aims to consolidate its position among its core Kurmi voters in the Ayodhya region. This demand contrasts with the BJP's focus on Ayodhya and Hindutva fervour. Other BJP allies, including the SBSP and Nishad party, have also called for a caste census.
